Your mailbox is nearly full, what to do

Free up space in your mailbox, and how to add more storage if you need it.

Why it matters

Every mailbox we host includes 10GB of storage. When a mailbox reaches its limit, new messages can be rejected and the sender may get a failure notice, so it is worth clearing space before you get there.

Free up space

  1. 1Sign in at https://webmail.turnerdigitalhosting.co.uk and look at the usage shown in the bottom left, that is the most up to date figure for your mailbox.
  2. 2Check which folders are using the most space, Sent and Trash are often the biggest.
  3. 3Empty the Trash and Junk folders, deleted messages still count until the Trash is emptied.
  4. 4Sort by size if your webmail allows it, and remove large attachments you no longer need. Save any you want to keep to your computer first.
  5. 5Clear out old newsletters and automated notifications you do not need to keep.
  6. 6Remember that deleting mail in an IMAP app removes it from the server and every connected device, so keep copies of anything important first.

If you need more space

  • Extra storage is added in 10GB blocks for a small yearly fee, contact us and we will arrange it.
  • Ask us to check your usage if you are not sure how close to the limit you are.
  • If you regularly send and receive large files, ask us about better ways to share them than email attachments.
